What this is, and what it isn't.

TradingLeague.fun is a game for friends: a league is one contest, with a start and an end. Nothing in it is investment advice, a recommendation, or an opinion about whether to buy or sell anything, and a league's result says nothing about what a real investment would do. Don't make real financial decisions from it.
No real trading, no real money
You can't buy or sell anything real here. No order goes anywhere, there are no brokerage links, and the site takes no payments.
The money in a league is play money. It can't be bought, sold, transferred for value or cashed out, and it has no value outside the game. There are no entry fees and no prizes.
The practice desk (what the laptops open when you aren't in a league) is paper trading for learning how shares and options work: paper money on a simulated market. Its prices aren't real quotes, and the account stays in your own browser.
Where the prices come from
- Real-price leagues use each day's opening and closing prices from a third-party data provider, named in the league. They update once a day, after the close. They can be late, incomplete or wrong. Dividends are ignored, and a stock split during a league isn't corrected automatically.
- Simulated leagues use made-up prices from a model. They are labelled as simulated and aren't real quotes, even where a real company's name and ticker are used.
- Every pick and order fills at the first price dated after it, so the price you fill at can differ from the one on the screen.
- The tape above the big screen is TradingView's free widget, delayed, shown as TradingView provides it. It's for watching: the site never reads prices from it, and it can differ from the prices a league scores on.
- The business TV plays each broadcaster's own YouTube player, and their terms apply. Headlines come from public news feeds (the headline and the source's name only).
What the site keeps
- The name you type, kept with your league and shown to the others in it.
- An anonymous sign-in kept in your browser (no email, no password), so your seat stays yours on that browser.
- The leagues you're in: your picks, orders, holdings and results.
- Each league's settings, and its password as a salted hash if it has one.
- In your own browser only: a copy of your name, your view and tape settings, what you're wearing, and your practice desk account.
Where you walk, what you're wearing, what you say in the chat and your reactions go live to the others in your room and aren't stored. The site asks for no email, no phone number and no payment details, and runs no ads or ad trackers.
The services involved: Cloudflare (hosting), Supabase (the live connection and the leagues' records), the price provider (the server reads prices from it; it never sees you), Google Fonts, cdnjs and jsDelivr (code libraries), rss2json.com (headlines, only if our relay fails), TradingView (the tape) and YouTube (the TV, which comes on muted when the room loads).
Companies and tickers
Company names and ticker symbols belong to their owners and are used only to say which stock is which. TradingLeague.fun isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of them, and shows no company logos.
Who can join
A league is open to anyone, locked with a password, or link only. Anyone with an open or link-only league's link can look in, and can take a seat while the league allows it, so only send it to people you want there. A password is a casual lock for friends, not bank-grade security.
Be decent
Everyone in a room sees your name and your chat. Keep it friendly.
